Are there fees for withdrawals?

Depending on several factors (e.g.: your bank location, the frequency and the size of your withdrawals) the transfer could be completed free of charge or your trading account could be debited up to $15.

How do I withdraw funds from my trading account?

In order to withdraw money from your  trading account, visit the "Trading Accounts" section of our website.

Are there any fees to open an MT4 (MetaTrader4) account?

No. Opening an account (real or demo) is absolutely free of charge. When you open an account for the first time, the balance will be zero. You will make a first deposit (either via bank wire or e-wallet or credit card) and then start trading on the FX market.

My account opening documents are not in English. Will this be a problem?

If you have documents that are not in English in most cases this will not represent a problem to us. Our international team works with customers from all over the world and the procedure to open an account complies with the international AML/KYC standards. For further details please do not hesitate to contact us.

How do I avoid a margin call?

In order to avoid a margin call it is important to maintain a positive margin. If the position is showing a loss, then there is the possibility to wipe out the entire balance account. If the amount of money on the account is too low, there is the possibility to receive a margin call. In that case, if the trader desire is to maintain the position opened then he would have to top up the account. For further details please read the following page:http://blog.keytomarkets.com/blog/margin-call-stop/

What leverage do you recommend?

The level of leverage that suits customers depends on many factors. Basically, if the trader is a risk taker and/or wants to obtain higher profits (while potentially incurring higher losses), he will prefer a higher leverage such as 1:500 or 1:100. On the contrary, if the trader is risk averse, he will prefer lower leverage in order to reduce potential losses.

What is a rollover?

Generally, traders decide to open and close many positions during the day in order to potentially maximize their profit in a short time.  However if they decide to hold a position overnight, then each account is credited or debited an interest charge calculated on the full size (notional value) of the traders’ position.

This particular type of interest is called rollover fee or overnight swap and it is automatically calculated at a certain time of the night, (considering the London time zone) usually between 10pm and 3am. It is important to highlight that the word “swap” in this particular case must not be confused with the well-known financial term of Swap as a derivative contract, although the use of the same word correctly suggests a cash flow exchange between two counterparties.

What is slippage?

The difference between the expected price of a trade and the spot price the trade is actually executed at, is called slippage. This phenomenon occurs during periods of high volatility, especially when large market orders are used.

This term is used in both Forex and stock trading, as a matter of fact, the definition is the same for these markets.

Why does my trade execution price not match what I'm seeing on the chart?

The chart that we are used to seeing on the MetaTrader4 platform contain instant images that change once every 0.3 seconds on average. If a trader opens a position, 0.3 seconds can represent a lot of time especially when hundreds of thousands of traders are operating at the same time.

In some circumstances, we can have the impression that our order is not the one that appears on the platform, but this is not true. We always have to take into consideration the refresh time frame of the screen in order to avoid misunderstandings.

What is better, low leverage or high leverage?

There is not bad or good leverage. Before choosing a level of leverage it is important to know what the consequences of operating with a high leverage instead of low leverage are. First of all, if you open a position that needs only $100 margin money, for a deposit worth $1000 then that is not a problem, but if the margin required is of $900, in that case you are increasing the chances  of receiving a margin call if the market moves against you.

If the leverage is high, then the profit/loss will be high too, and your account could be wiped out rapidly.

So, the level of leverage is up to you, depending on your experience and on your possibilities.

Can I lose more money than I deposit?

Potentially, there is the possibility to lose more than the amount deposited, but this can happen very rarely. Otherwise you may have a total loss if the market goes against you. Also, if you have a low balance remaining on your account, it is not possible to open a new position due to the fact that you will receive a margin call.

How can I learn more about trading?

To start trading is quite easy, everyone can open a demo account without losing a pence. The first thing to learn is how the MetaTrader4 platform works. Within the Education section on the Key to Markets website there is a short introduction of this topic and anyone who’s interested in trading on the Forex market can read it and can start trading in no more than 10 minutes.

There is always the opportunity to learn more, as a matter of fact, there is a wide range of literature available on this topic. Very often the Fx trading literature generates contradictions due to different ways of interpreting and approaching the financial markets.

About Forex Market

What time does the currency market close?

The Forex market is open 24 hours a day. It provides a great opportunity for traders to trade at any time of the day or night. The FX market trading hours are: New York opens at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST (EDT), Tokyo opens at 7:00 pm to 4:00 am EST (EDT), Sydney opens at 5:00 pm to 2:00 am EST (EDT), London opens at 3:00 am to 12:00 noon EST (EDT).

When is the Forex market most volatile?

When two sessions are overlapping, there is greater movement on the Forex market. We believe that the following are the best session hours to trade:

  • New York and London: between 8:00 am - 12:00 noon EST (EDT)
  • Sydney and Tokyo: between 7:00 pm - 2:00 am EST (EDT)
  • London and Tokyo: between 3:00 am - 4:00am EST (EDT)

For example, trading EUR/USD, GBP/USD currency pairs would give good results between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon EST when the two markets for those currencies are most active.
